Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor was produced by Canterbury Opera at Canterbury, New Zealand, July 20-29, 2007. The show, which was not without incident when it seemed that the soprano might not be able to complete a performance, seems to have been generally well regarded. However, unfortunately, financial problems have caused Canterbury Opera to suspend its next production.

The Canterbury Opera Chorus and Christchurch Symphony Orchestra were conducted by Brian Castles-Onion. Direction was by Nigel Warrington.
